Drums

What is it all about???

A drum kit is a percussion instrument which usually refers to a collection of drums, cymbals and other percussion instruments arranged for convenient playing by a sole percussionist (drummer), usually for jazz, rock, or other types of contemporary music. The exact collection of components to a drum kit

varies greatly according to the musical style and personal preference. At a minimum a kit usually contains a bass drum sitting on the floor and played with a pedal, a snare drum on a stand, two or three tom-toms, some of which are mounted on top of the bass drum and the largest typically free-standing alongside it , a hi-hat played with the left foot, a ride

cymbal and a crash cymbal arranged on stands on the right and left.

Concept - To become a quality drummer you need time and patience. Whatever comes with patience, practice and constant efforts is always great and everlasting. This course module will aim at making you achieve great heights in music. You will be taught music in detail with the theory (reading music us

ing staff notations). Now if you ask the question "How much time will I take to play like Neil Pert?" then it is a wrong question. That is why there is no fixed duration in this module.

Frequency - 1 class per week (or 4 to 5 lessons in a month or 14 lessons quarterly)

Batch Strength - Individual lessons

Duration - No fixed duration. Whenever you are able to complete one grade you can clear the exam and move on to the next.

Add-ons - We will be providing you all the reference material like workbooks, CD's etc. free of cost. You will also be given workshops on music theory and other music related topics every month.

Certification - Certification from Rock School, UK after clearing the exam.

Fees Structure / Rules and Regulations

Young drummer often go to their first lesson hoping that by the end they’ll be able to play all the drum licks from their favorite albums. It sometimes comes as a shock to find that, for that first lesson and for plenty of lessons thereafter, you only get to do something that certainly wouldn’t amaze your friends. Drum students groan at the word 'rudiments'. They know it means the repetition, over and over again, of the basic building blocks of drumming. But the idea is that these rudiments should become as natural as breathing, and slip into the flow of a drum part so easily they become completely unconscious. When Miles Davis recorded his brilliant KIND OF BLUE album, he walked into the recording studio, put the sheet music in front of his musicians for the first time, and recorded the first run-through as takes. Many of these first takes wound up on the album. The performances were spontaneous and inspired. Had these musicians been unable to read music, they wouldn't have been able to play the music. That is why you will not just be ear trained to music but also develop the skills of reading the drums notations which is fundamental to a well-rounded music approach. It will help you to learn, perform, compose, teach and study with equal intensity because nothing less would suffice. We will also be providing you with the reference material like workbooks and CD's free of cost which will help you in practicing at home.

Did you know???

In 2000, Metallica discovered that a demo of their song "I Disappear" had been floating across the Napster file-sharing network. They soon discovered that their entire catalogue was also freely available. The band immediately determined to sue Napster and in the process asked that 300,000 Napster users found to be trading Metallica songs be kicked off the network. In 2001 Metallica and Napster agreed to an out-of-court settlement, and the band never actually sued any fans for copyright infringement. Nevertheless, the controversy created a public relations nightmare. In particular, Lars Ulrich (drummer,Metallica) found himself portrayed as a greedy and pretentious rock star completely out of touch with his fans. Many saw him as a pawn of the record industry, supporting the right of the labels to charge high prices as the middle men.

Still some support him when it comes to illegal music sharing, believing that he tried to do what he could to save the music industry. He is posted as a symbol against illegal music on the internet and the phrase "The man who started the fight against illegal file-sharing" is used. The people who support him believe that piracy and illegal file-sharing are damaging the music industry
