I definately think that Pakistani rock scene is so much better than Indian rock scene. One main reason for this is the huge presense of bollywood in India. All the good rock bands like Jal, Strings, Junoon, Cal etc are from Pakistan...The exception being Indian Ocean and may be Euphoria...although personally I think even Euphoria has more or less commercialized themselves...

You are right uj_clueless that there are good rock bands in India......great respect for Parikrama........but then only few people know about it........Is there any genuine rock band in India which is famous worldwide......may be like Strings???.......

Cmon decent....Jal is an awesome rock band....They are so talented....And have acheived so much fame so early....Rangon mein is almost like a hard song....And Jal is even more rock than Strings.....Strings may use electric drums sometimes but Jal never does that....

Decent, you are right in a sense...there is no denying the fact that there is lots of talent in India....no doubt about that...but you yourself admitted that Pak rock is more popular...the thing is that in India rock bands need to struggle like 10 times more than they do in Pak.... And about the Jal thing....Just because their songs are simple 3 chords pattern doesnt mean they arent rock.... Elvis's songs were 3 chords patterns....Bob Dylan's songs were 3 chord patters....The important thing is that all their songs are really well composed....They are not popular coz they arent rock...They are popular coz they are talented.... Of the Indian bands that you mentioned, I have heard only "Orange Street".....And they are no good....I heard them performing thrice in Delhi, and I still cant recall 1 of their songs....Bands like these just want to do stuff like Iron Maiden, Rammstein etc. and they even do a decent job in making songs like them....but then they are not true to themselves making songs like that.... The thing that makes Jal apart - Their compositions are true at heart, no unnecessary riffs, no out of the blue screaming like they were the most unfortunate people on earth, just plain and simple good music coming right from heart. They write what they feel....They dont pretend.... Kurt Cobain once said - "If you are pretending to be Nirvana, by breaking stuff on stage, screaming and taking drugs while performing, Then you are wasting what good you have. You wont be Nirvana and you wont be yourself"

Totally agree with you dude...I guess Pakistani people focus so much on good music because they do not have bollywood...Although it is a pity that India somehow lack in this regard but then there is also some awesome music coming up these days in Bollywood. Like Black and all...And Im sure as such good movies are released, so will be good music...

hey decent, listen to "Rangon mein" by Jal...its an amazing rock song....And which rock bands are in India??.......Zero is like so very not popular.......There is just one famous rock band, and that is Parikrama.......And even Parikrama can hardly be compared to bands like Junoon and Strings......

definately Indian rock scene......there is no rock scene in Pakistan......there is talent in Pakistan......and that too more in fusion.......but not in rock........thats why all the rock bands from Pakistan are coming to India.......eg. Jal......

Are people even aware of the Rock scene in India?...There are many good rock bands here in india.The thing is that it is all underground....Them Clones(have not heard anything as awesome and as orignal as these guys), Parikrama, TAAQ, Advaita, Indian ocean(if u are ready to call them rock.)etc...The rock scene is AWESOME in India....but u really need to explore it...
The best rock band in pakistan=Junoon...
And i cant understand one thing?Why do people want Jal like bands in India??

"Strings" is so much more famous than "Parikrama".....Strings has done so many international projects. Parikrama is just a local Indian band....Definately I vote for Pakistan here......

I dont think the paki rock scene is better than in india. can u really call JAL as rock?? puhlease! and either entity paradigm or call (i forget which) resemble linkin park, jst change the language. strings r alright. junoon is awesome, definitely. india has a lot of rock bands that r pretty good n ppl arent aware of, like, Zero (most mumbaiites know 'em n love 'em), advaita atc. so, before u judge the ROCK scene, try the real indian rock bands n then do that :)

Well, MOST of JAL's song's have only abt 3 chords :-s
i think i alone can BE a jal 'band' :p heh..now junoon is definitely awesome but havent they split? and well, yeah, paki music is more popular and that's why i say get INTO the rock scene in india, well, i know there r many wannabe rock bands here, but there r many who come up with decent OC's. jal isnt rock n that is precisely why they're so popular :p and electric drums? how does that matter? so a person playin' drums makes a band fall into the 'rock' genre? :O and plz, buy original indian rock band CD's and support them :) bands like Alms for Shanti, Helga's Fun Castle, Orange Street r wayyy better than jal, call n the likes.. and india has even blues n rock n roll bands, relatively unknown of course, but talented nevertheless.. well, the indian rock scene IS mediocre, i agree, but pakistan's isnt better unless u talk in terms of popularity. in every other way, india's is better.
